Attendance

Attendance & Welfare

At Beacon Academy, we believe that exceptional attendance is the cornerstone of student success. There is a direct, proven correlation between consistent attendance, high academic achievement, and the development of confident, well-rounded individuals.

To ensure our students remain safe and maximise their educational potential, daily, punctual attendance is non-negotiable.

Our Strategic Objectives

Our attendance policy is built upon a framework of high expectations and proactive support. We aim to:

  • Target Excellence: Maintain an overall Academy attendance rate of 96% or higher.

  • Foster Culture: Emphasise the critical importance of high-level attendance across our entire community of students, parents, and staff.

  • Robust Monitoring: Utilise clear procedures for tracking attendance and implementing timely, effective intervention strategies.

  • Ensure Punctuality: Eliminate persistent lateness to protect the integrity of the learning day.

  • Legal Compliance: Clearly outline the legal framework governing attendance in accordance with the Education Act 2002 and the DfE’s “Working Together to Improve School Attendance” guidance.

 The Home-Academy Partnership

We view attendance as a collective responsibility. To ensure your child thrives, we ask parents and carers to:

  • Prioritise Punctuality: Ensure your child arrives at the Academy on time every day.

  • Maintain Communication: In the rare event of an absence, please contact the Academy prior to 08:30 via 01472 328888 or attendance@beaconacademy.co.uk

  • Promote Value: Work with us to reinforce the vital importance of school attendance in your child’s future success.

Legal Note: It is the legal responsibility of parents and carers to ensure their child attends their educational provision as required by law.
