Ofsted

Our school was last inspected in June 2025

Following the publication of our recent Ofsted report, which resulted from an inspection conducted in June, Beacon Academy would like to provide important context on the significant changes that have taken place since the inspection. Executive Principal David Whitaker said the school was “unrecognisable” from the one inspected almost five months ago. Ofsted accepts that inspections are a ‘point-in time’ evaluation, and their visit coincided with a challenging period at the academy. If inspectors returned today, their experience and findings would be completely different.

Since the inspection, we have seen a new leadership team appointed who are driving improvement. We have also moved into a fabulous, £20-million, state-of-the-art building. Moving to one building from a sprawling site has made a huge difference to the learning environment. Staff have a clear sense of direction, and the atmosphere around the school is calm and purposeful.

We have worked incredibly hard since June and made significant progress on Ofsted’s recommendations. Executive Principal David Whitaker is proud of what has been achieved by the staff, and the work will continue under the new leadership team determined to deliver a school that the community can be proud of. Parental feedback from our recent Meet the Coach Evening and Open Evening in the new building has been extremely positive. We know there is much work to do, but Trust Chief Executive Officer Mark Wilson is confident that we are supporting every young person in our care to achieve the best possible outcomes.
